PROVENT® Therapy creates nasal EPAP to keep the airway open during sleep
The PROVENT Nasal Device uses a novel MicroValve
design that attaches over the nostrils and is secured in place with
hypoallergenic, latex-free adhesive.
> Device
has minimal resistance during inspiration, but creates increased resistance
during expiration.
> Expiratory
positive airway pressure (EPAP) increases airway caliber
during the critical end-expiratory period, which is when the airway is most
narrow.
During inspiration the MicroValve
opens. During expiration the MicroValve closes.
Airflow is nearly unobstructed, allowing Air exits through small apertures,
which for normal breathing. creates EPAP and maintains pressure in airway
through start of next inspiration.
